The Eden Prairie City Council last week appointed 33 high school students to serve on city commissions for the 2024-25 school year.
This initiative is part of the Students on Commissions program, which provides students with the opportunity to contribute to their community in an official capacity while gaining valuable insights into municipal government.
High school juniors and seniors residing in Eden Prairie are eligible to apply for this program.
The students appointed are as follows:
Flying Cloud Airport Commission: Patrick Anderson, Sumaya Awal, Aditi Ginuga, Daniel Jiang, Seth Johnson, Bergen Papa, Vincent Schulze, and Matthew Wiedman.
Heritage Preservation Commission: Kadie Crider, Jacob Holje, Jude Kambal, Amuktha Pothamsetti, and Annika Rice,
Human Rights and Diversity Commission: Kanya Aneja, Ayanna Arora, Swara Halbe, Tamia Hassan, Melody Li, Alisha Shah, and Zahara Umar.
Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Commission: Noelle Fitzgerald, Sophia Hoffelt, Tavin Koenig, Jack Petrin, Tessa Plourde, and Richa Raja.
Sustainability Commission: Akhil Agrawal, Raghava Dwivedi, Evie Elmquist, Gabriel Hernandez, Lucinda Jacobs, Simone Kirkeby, and Ishika Nanavati.
According to the city, the Students on Commissions program allows students to engage with their community and gain firsthand experience on how local government works.
