Minnetonka (8-6) breezed past the Eden Prairie Eagles volleyball team (11-6) Thursday night with a commanding 3-0 win (25-21, 25-17, 25-23).

The Eagles jumped out to a 7-3 lead to begin the match, but that was all the Eagles had to cheer about. Minnetonka stormed back with eight in a row and used an 18-6 run to cultivate a double-digit lead. Despite a 10-point lead, Eden Prairie clawed their way back and trailed 24-21 before an error cost the Eagles the first set. Errors haunted the Eagles most of the night.

Skippers’ sophomore outside hitter Hannah Jackson tallied six kills in the opening set to lead the charge.

Momentum carried over into the second set for Minnetonka. The Skippers jumped out to an early seven-point lead and cruised to the eight-point second-set victory. In the set, Eden Prairie lost starter Zofia Keoghvwhen when she exited with an apparent injury and did not return.

Set three began with five straight points by the Skippers. Senior Mya Karrick recorded three consecutive aces to begin the set, but Eden Prairie made a late surge before falling victim 25-23.

Eden Prairie’s Lillian Ekness had a team-high seven kills. Minnetonka’s leader was future Clemson Tiger volleyballer Kate Simington, who recorded a match-high 10 kills.
