America Recycles Day arrives on Saturday, Nov. 15, and Eden Prairie is encouraging residents to review local recycling practices and make use of recently updated resources.

According to the city, items placed in recycling carts in the Twin Cities metro area are processed in Minnesota.

Plastic bottles such as milk jugs and detergent containers are recycled in Paynesville and turned into decking and landscaping products. Glass bottles and jars are melted down and made into new containers in Shakopee. Paper and cardboard become new boxes and packaging in Becker, while metal cans are made into new cans or used for parts in cars and appliances. More information is available at RecyclingExists.com.

Eden Prairie households recently received the city’s 2026 Recycling Guide. The guide includes information on what can and cannot be recycled, how to recycle organics, how to dispose of hazardous waste and expired medicine, and dates for 2026 recycling events.

The guide is available in English, Spanish and Somali on the city’s website.

Hennepin County also offers free recycling tools for residents, including flyers, magnets and container labels. One commonly used resource is the “Organics Recycling at Home” label, which lists what belongs — and does not belong — in organics recycling.
