Eden Prairie-based E.A. Sween Company is recalling about 127,887 pounds of its Deli Express BBQ Pulled Pork on a sesame bun sandwiches due to possible plastic contamination, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The company first announced the recall on its website Oct. 25, citing the potential presence of plastic fragments from barbecue sauce bottles used during production. The FSIS issued a corresponding alert on Oct. 27.
The recall covers 5.5-ounce sandwiches (UPC 0-41433-13087-2) produced between Jan. 13 and Oct. 15, 2025, with consumer lot codes ranging from 1915013 to 1915301. The products bear establishment number “EST. 2451” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed to stores nationwide, including the Department of Defense.
E.A. Sween said the sandwiches may have been sold in the continental U.S., Hawaii and Guam through convenience and grocery retailers. No injuries or illnesses have been reported, but the company said plastics can pose a choking hazard if swallowed.
Consumers are urged not to eat the affected sandwiches. Products should be thrown away or returned to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
