Eden Prairie residents got an inside look at how their city runs – and climbed aboard the vehicles that make it happen – during the Citywide Open House on a warm Saturday, Oct. 4.

Held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Center, across the parking lot from Fire Station 1, the free annual event let families explore police cars, fire trucks, snowplows and other public safety and maintenance equipment up close.
Visitors met McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog, watched K-9 demonstrations, and chatted with firefighters, police officers and city staff about what it takes to operate a community of nearly 65,000 residents and 3,000 businesses.
Children’s activities, giveaways and refreshments rounded out the afternoon – a hands-on civics lesson wrapped in one sun-soaked Saturday.
