About 20 Minnesotans are expected to take part in Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s annual Lobby Day on Tuesday, July 22, in Washington, D.C., joining thousands of advocates from around the world calling for federal climate action.

Participants will meet with members of Congress, including the offices of Democratic U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, and several Democratic U.S. representatives from Minnesota – among them Rep. Kelly Morrison of the 3rd District, which includes Eden Prairie.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that mobilizes grassroots volunteers to push for legislation aimed at addressing climate change. The group has advocated for clean energy policies and supported efforts to preserve incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Despite political challenges, the organization sees continued momentum for renewable energy solutions, including geothermal and nuclear energy. A December 2024 Yale Program on Climate Change Communication poll found 63 percent of Americans believe expanding clean energy should be a high or very high priority for federal leaders.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby maintains chapters across the country, including an active group in Minnesota’s southwest suburbs.
