An Eden Prairie man faces two felony charges after police responded to a domestic assault last month and later seized multiple guns from his home, according to criminal complaints filed in Hennepin County District Court.
Jacob Robert Lindholm, 43, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation in connection with a Nov. 17 incident at his home on Luther Way. Officers arrived about 11:40 p.m. and met Lindholm and the woman who reported the assault outside the residence. She told police he struck her and strangled her “to the point where she saw stars.” Officers documented bruising on her neck, arms and right shin.
The next day, officers executed a search warrant at the home after the woman told police Lindholm “has several guns.” According to the complaint, officers recovered a Marlin .22-caliber firearm, two Benelli 12-gauge shotguns, a Benelli 12-gauge shotgun barrel, and a Winchester Ranger firearm. They also noted bullet holes in the garage wall. Lindholm has a 2000 second-degree burglary conviction that bars him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
He is charged in a second complaint with felony possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a crime of violence, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence if convicted.
Bail was set at $40,000 in the domestic assault case and $100,000 — or $30,000 with conditions — in the firearm-possession case. Both matters are scheduled for an omnibus hearing Jan. 7 in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis.
Lindholm is under orders to have no contact with the victim and to follow standard release conditions, including remaining law-abiding and submitting to random testing.
