Several Eden Prairie Police Department employees were recognized this week by a security-tracking technology company for their work in solving two theft cases in 2025 and 2023, the department said Wednesday.
The recognition came from 3SI, whose devices were used in both investigations.
In the July 8, 2025, case, 3SI notified Eden Prairie dispatchers that one of its devices had been taken from a local retailer and was moving in a vehicle, according to police. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, who had been working as a contractor at the store, admitted taking the device, police said. Officers also recovered another stolen item from the vehicle. The suspect was arrested on a felony theft charge.
The earlier case occurred on July 13, 2023, when a stolen 3SI device from an Eden Prairie retailer was tracked to a parked car at a Scott County casino. Shakopee police arrested the driver after confirming the device was inside and finding four additional stolen items, the department said. The driver also had an unrelated warrant for his arrest.
