On Saturday, Nov. 22, SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) will host an International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day Memorial Gathering. The event is free and open to anyone seeking a compassionate space for remembrance, grief support, and healing.
This year’s event will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m., at East Ridge High School, located at 4200 Pioneer Drive in Woodbury. Those unable to attend in person can join via livestream on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/savevoicesofedu or on Instagram @savevoicesofedu.
Observed worldwide, International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day offers people who have lost someone to suicide a dedicated time to gather in community, share stories, honor their loved ones, and find comfort among others who understand the complexity of suicide grief.
The morning will include music, remembrance activities, resource tables, refreshments, and a memorial wall honoring loved ones lost to suicide. Attendees are invited to bring a printed photo of their loved one to add to the display.
Attendees may also bring clothing or fabric mementos belonging to their loved one to contribute to the Woven 2 Save Project, an artistic initiative that transforms garments into a collective expression of remembrance and hope.
