A decorated Vietnam War medic was recognized last weekend in Eden Prairie for his military service.
Staff Sgt. Glenn R. Horton Jr., who served as a combat medic with the U.S. Army’s 199th Light Infantry Brigade from 1969 to 1970, received a Quilt of Valor from the Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The presentation took place during the chapter’s meeting at Grace Church.
Horton, who completed a three-year enlistment and earned several commendations for his service in Vietnam, was also invited by the Lake Minnetonka DAR Chapter to contribute his oral history to the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.
The Quilt of Valor Foundation has awarded nearly 425,000 quilts nationwide since 2003. The Lake Minnetonka chapter has presented 28 quilts since 2016. More information is available on the Daughters of the American Revolution’s website.
