A Blaine woman has been charged with felony financial transaction card fraud after allegedly using a customer’s credit card left behind at the Eden Prairie bakery where she worked.
According to a criminal complaint filed Oct. 29 in Hennepin County District Court, Lilia Fermanyuk, 35, was a manager at Nothing Bundt Cakes, 8436 Joiner Way, when a customer reported leaving a credit card there on Aug. 8. The customer told police an employee said the card would be kept in a safe until it could be picked up.
When the customer returned on Aug. 18, the card was missing, the complaint states. Police said the card was later used for unauthorized purchases totaling $675.62 at Target stores in Maple Grove and St. Louis Park, and at a Marshalls store in Maple Grove.
Investigators said surveillance footage from the stores showed Fermanyuk using the card. When officers visited the bakery on Sept. 17, they noted that she matched the person seen in the video, according to the complaint.
Fermanyuk is charged with financial transaction card fraud – use without consent, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
She is not in custody and has been summoned to appear in court Nov. 17 before Judge Jane Maschka at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility in Minneapolis. Court records do not list an attorney for Fermanyuk.
