The Staring Lake dog park in Eden Prairie will close for about a week beginning Monday, Oct. 27, while crews complete hazardous tree removal and hillside stabilization work. Portions of the nearby parking lot will also be partially closed to allow space for equipment and material staging, according to the city.
While the park is closed, dog owners can visit other off-leash areas throughout Eden Prairie. The city maintains six off-leash dog exercise areas, all open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Flying Cloud Drive dog park, located at 7171 Flying Cloud Drive, is open year-round and includes separate areas for small or fragile dogs and larger breeds.
Besides Staring Lake dog park, other off-leash areas include Crestwood Park hockey rink, 9780 Dell Road; Edenvale Park hockey rink, 7200 Edenvale Boulevard; Homeward Hills Park hockey rink, 12000 Silverwood Drive; Miller Park hockey rink, 8208 Eden Prairie Road; Nesbitt Preserve Park hockey rink, 8641 Center Way; and Round Lake Park West hockey rink, 16691 Valley View Road.
Before visiting any off-leash park, the city reminds residents and nonresidents to ensure their dogs are properly licensed in Eden Prairie.
