You're Invited to EPLN's Annual Meeting

Three new people will join the board of Eden Prairie Local News (EPLN) this month.
Molly Lyons, Dan Ness and David Teigland will begin their three-year terms on Oct. 20 at EPLN’s Annual Meeting. The event, open to the public, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Preserve Barn, 11221 Anderson Lakes Parkway.
Molly Lyons
Molly Lyons has recently retired from a career in human resources and said, “I am deeply supportive of a local news source for our communities and believe my professional experience can be of benefit to EPLN. I am excited about giving back to my community using my area of knowledge in support of this good cause.”
Lyons lived in Eden Prairie for 27 years, raising three children who attended the public schools and were active in sports, extracurricular activities and clubs.

Her previous volunteer roles include serving on the board of directors of both La Danse Fatale and the National Charity League, a multigenerational philanthropic organization of mothers and daughters.
Previous career positions included human resources roles with Norstan Telecommunications and Seagate Technology.
Currently a resident of Chanhassen, Lyons enjoys being outside and staying active through activities such as tennis, running and bicycling. She also enjoys spending time with family, particularly her granddaughters.
Dan Ness
Dan Ness says his interest in serving on the EPLN board stems from a desire to see community journalism thrive, whether in print or digital form.
“I’m attracted to digital community news organizations that are doing work I consider essential to a healthy democracy and informed communities, and Eden Prairie Local News is a shining example of that,” he said.
Dan Ness
In his early career, Ness worked in community journalism in rural Montana and suburban Detroit, as well as working at the Minnesota Daily while attending the University of Minnesota. Most of his career has been spent in marketing and digital and public relations leadership.
His most recent position was as vice president and chief marketing and digital officer for UCare in Minneapolis. Previous career positions include roles at Weber Shandwick and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics.
Ness’s previous volunteer activities have included serving on the board of directors for Wilderness Inquiry and for FamilyWise, an organization focused on early childhood education and parenting support. He also served, through the Loppet Foundation, as chief of media for the International Ski Federation’s 2024 Cross Country World Cup held at Theodore Wirth Regional Park
A resident of southwest Minneapolis, Ness said, “My interest is in knowing people in Eden Prairie and admiring the work of EPLN in our greater community.” He describes himself as a “musical omnivore” with tastes leaning heavily to jazz and classical, and a soccer fanatic. He enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking, family camping getaways, and cross-country skiing.
David Teigland
David Teigland said, “I appreciate how a media organization can help to anchor a community and be a resource for residents – as well as serve as a force for good in the world. At the heart of it, EPLN serves a vital role: to connect people. The more connections we form and communication we build, the better we’ll all be.”
David Teigland
Teigland currently serves as the city clerk for the City of Eden Prairie. Previous career positions included roles in election support for the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County and as a technical writer for Pinnacle Airlines. He also noted that he has a background in journalism, having earned a degree in mass communication and worked as a copy editor for The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah’s largest newspaper.
He has previously volunteered with Best Friends Animal Society, a no-kill pet shelter, and in the mentor program at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
Teigland says he finds Eden Prairie a great place to live and work. He and his family love to take advantage of the parks and open spaces. Teigland describes himself as a big Minnesota sports fan and says you can often spot him on one of Eden Prairie’s pickleball courts, playing with coworkers and trying to improve his game.

Lyons, Ness and Teigland replace three members who are retiring from EPLN’s board, effective as of the Oct. 20 Annual Meeting.
Those board members are David Lindahl, Jeff Strate, and Mark A. Weber.
In addition to the new board members beginning their terms and recognition of departing board members, the EPLN Annual Meeting will include opportunities to meet and ask questions of the publisher, editors, and reporters. Dessert refreshments from local bakeries will also be offered.
