An Eden Prairie man is accused of stealing $30,000 from a safe in his family’s home and using the money to fund gambling accounts, according to a Hennepin County criminal complaint.
Noah Neej Tshiab Fredericks, 20, was charged Sept. 15 with felony theft after police say he admitted to taking the money on Sept. 13 in Eden Prairie. The complaint states Fredericks knew the code to the safe and accessed it without permission.
Fredericks allegedly told police he used the money to fund gambling accounts. The complaint does not specify whether those accounts were online. He is charged with one count of theft over $5,000, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
He was released from custody Sept. 16 on $5,000 bond with conditions that include no contact with the victim, restrictions on internet use, random testing, and a ban on weapons. His next court appearance, an omnibus hearing, is scheduled for Nov. 13 in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis.
