Veridian Credit Union opened applications this month for its Successful Financial Future Grant program. The program will award up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations that work to address barriers to financial stability through financial literacy or employment readiness. Applications are due Oct. 15.
“Financial literacy and employment readiness are essential tools for building a successful financial future,” said Angela Weekley, Veridian’s manager of community inclusion. “Supporting the organizations in our communities who provide those tools is central to Veridian’s mission and our core values.”
In total, $100,000 will be distributed as general operating grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations serving residents within Veridian’s geographic field of membership, including Iowa, six counties in eastern Nebraska and eight counties in Minnesota (Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Washington and Wright).
Grants will be awarded in December. Veridian’s Successful Financial Future Grants are administered in cooperation with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. Details are available at veridiancu.org/grants.
Veridian Credit Union currently has one location in Eden Prairie and received city council approval this summer to construct an additional location at a site that previously housed a car wash.
