Wings of the North, an all-volunteer aviation nonprofit based at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, will hold the drawing Saturday, Sept. 27, during its 6th annual Airplane Sweepstakes and fall pancake breakfast. The prize is the winner’s choice of an airworthy 1950 Aeronca Champion airplane or the cash payout, the group said.
The breakfast runs from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Wings of the North Air Museum, with the drawing expected between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Admission includes entry to the museum, which the nonprofit operates.
Access to the museum is through Gate H on the northwest corner of the airport, about one mile west of Flying Cloud Drive on Pioneer Trail, the group said.
Sweepstakes entries are available through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at wotn.org/sweepstakes. Wings of the North said all proceeds support its Minnesota-themed aviation museum and related programs.
Breakfast costs $10 for adults and children 12 and older, $25 for a family of four, $5 for ages 6 to 11, and is free for children under 5. Breakfast will be available while supplies last.
The drawing will take place inside the Wings of the North Air Museum, which recently marked its second anniversary at its current temporary site. The nonprofit has been based at Flying Cloud Airport for more than 27 years and continues to seek a permanent location.
