Storms Monday night scattered debris across Eden Prairie, with fallen trees and branches blocking some roads and trails.

City officials said no property damage has been reported beyond downed trees and branches. Public works crews are working to clear the debris.

Residents can report storm debris on the city website. The city’s yard waste site will be open free of charge Friday through Sunday for residents to dispose of debris from their property.

Following hail and heavy rain Sunday night, strong winds and additional rain arrived Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Much of the Midwest, including Minnesota, was under a severe thunderstorm watch, with forecasters warning of possible derecho conditions. A derecho is a powerful windstorm that can cause widespread damage, similar to a tornado but often more intense.

While Minnesota did not experience a derecho Monday night, the Twin Cities still saw winds between 60 and 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
