A 45-year-old Shakopee woman was killed Monday morning in a crash on Interstate 494 at Highway 169 in Bloomington, near the border with Eden Prairie, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash occurred at 6:33 a.m., when a 2009 Chevy Impala, driven by Yadira Gabriela Hernandezaguilar, spun out and slid across all lanes of traffic. A 2021 Freightliner semi-truck, traveling in the left lane, struck the driver’s side of the Impala, officials said.
Hernandezaguilar was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. She sustained fatal injuries, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 76-year-old Eagan man, was uninjured.
The road was reported as snow- and ice-covered at the time. Emergency responders from Allina and the Eden Prairie Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Besides the fatal crash, snowy and icy conditions led to dozens of crashes and vehicle spinouts across Minnesota on Monday, according to the State Patrol. Between midnight and 2 p.m., troopers responded to 137 property damage crashes, 14 injury crashes, 45 vehicles off the road, six spinouts, and one jackknifed semi statewide.
