Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to reflect new information from MnDOT changing the upcoming Highway 101 closure from one day to two.
As part of an ongoing construction project on Highway 101 between Highway 5 in Chanhassen and County Road 62/Townline Road in Eden Prairie, lane closures and roadwork are scheduled for August and September.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 19, Hwy. 101 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions between Choctaw Circle and Sandy Hook Road in Chanhassen, extending to Lotus View Drive in Eden Prairie. Sandy Hook Road and Lotus View Drive are essentially the same road, changing names as it crosses Hwy. 101.
The lane reduction, controlled by a stop sign, is expected to last through late September, weather permitting, as crews work to improve drainage at Purgatory Creek.
Additionally, from 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 to to 5 p.m. Sunday Aug. 25, Hwy. 101 will be completely closed in both directions between Fox Hollow Drive in Chanhassen and Duck Lake Trail in Eden Prairie.
During the closure, local residents traveling on Hwy. 101 will need to follow the detour for regional traffic. Drivers north of Fox Hollow Drive will be directed north to Hwy. 7, west to Hwy. 41, south to Hwy. 5, and then back east to Hwy. 101. Drivers south of Duck Lake Trail will be directed south to Hwy. 5, west to Powers Blvd., north to Hwy. 7, and then back east to Hwy. 101.
The ongoing construction project, which began in June, includes resurfacing Highway 101, reconstructing the trail on the west side, installing pedestrian signals at Twilight Trail and Valley View Road, repairing drainage issues at Purgatory Creek, and building accessible pedestrian crossings and curb ramps.
The project is anticipated to be completed by October.
The section of Highway 101 between Highway 5 in Chanhassen and County Road 62 in Eden Prairie remains closed to through traffic and is only open to local traffic within the project area.
