Oconitrillo will replace Kelly Taylor, who recently resigned.
According to a media release, Oconitrillo brings 20 years of coaching experience from the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), most recently at Holy Family High School in Victoria. He served as the varsity girls coach from 2003-2008 and the boys head coach from 2008-2022. Oconitrillo boasts over 200 career wins and has been named section coach of the year four times. His 2018 team competed in the state tournament.
Additionally, Oconitrillo has been an NCAA soccer referee since 2002, officiating in Division I, II, and III, including many NCAA tournaments. He currently serves as the director of international students at Holy Family.
“Jorge’s ability to keep things light and fun while also creating an expectation of excellence from his players and staff impresses me,” said Joe Perkl, the high school’s director of student activities. “He connects with his players in a way that makes them feel valued and lives a life dedicated to soccer. We are excited for him to lead the Eagles!”
Oconitrillo expressed his gratitude for his new role. “I am extremely excited to meet the players, the families, and the rest of the Eden Prairie Eagles community,” he said.
