PROP Food marked a significant milestone with the dedication of its new refrigerated van on Thursday at its 14700 Martin Drive headquarters, enhancing the organization’s ability to transport and deliver perishable goods to those in need.

“A refrigerated van has long been a dream for PROP,” said Executive Director Jenifer Loon. The van features refrigeration and ample space, allowing PROP food drivers to transport items more efficiently and safely from area grocery stores to the PROP food shelf.

The vehicle’s purchase was made possible by the collective generosity of community partners and individual benefactors. Significant contributions came from the Mizpah United Church of Christ, which donated a portion of its benevolence fund upon the congregation’s dissolution, and the George R. Wolff Hopkins VFW Post No. 425, which provided a substantial grant. Private donations funded the remaining necessities, including retrofitting the van for refrigeration and branding.

The van has already been put to use, keeping cold food at proper temperatures and enabling volunteers to load it more easily.

“We are so grateful for this wonderful addition to our fleet of food rescue vehicles,” Loon noted, “It will enable PROP to continue to provide fresh, quality food for many years to come for our community’s neighbors in need.”

PROP Food, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, not only offers nourishment but also comprehensive support to individuals in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen facing financial, housing, or employment insecurity.
