Impressive costumes, great music, and a fun atmosphere entertained a packed crowd at Eden Prairie High School’s (EPHS) annual “Night at the Movies” concert on Friday, Oct. 27.

Led by teachers Angelique Rowell and Karin Moreaux, the school’s Symphonic, Concertino, and Concert orchestras played songs from favorite films like “Harry Potter” and “Pinocchio.”

Student conductors were Aleta Dockter (“Beauty and the Beast”), Jameson Drieslein (“The Godfather”), Caroline Larsen (“Linus and Lucy”), Lily Lawinger (“The Little Mermaid”), Anvesha Mallik (“Phantom of the Opera”), Lilly Mattison (“Rattatouille”), Laura Schiveley (“Pirates of the Caribbean”), Brooke Tape (“Wizard of Oz”), and Alana Wasserman (“Ghostbusters”).

Dressed as a chef from “Ratatouille,” student conductor and concert orchestra violist Mattison delighted the crowd by chasing to the stage sophomore cellist Ellanor Fuller (garbed as a rat), then flourishing a wooden spoon as she conducted.

At the free annual event, ninth grade orchestra volunteers staffed various activities, which included face painting, temporary tattoos, and an instrument “petting zoo” where children could try out string instruments. Guests enjoyed apple juice and popcorn, and could pose in front of backdrops themed after “Star Wars” and princess movies.

Campbell Gilquist managed the event’s video tech, and set design was by Sophia Hughes and Maggie Tippets.
