Eden Prairie residents, especially those from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, are being encouraged to share their views about the community at a Town Hall Meeting scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Eden Prairie Library, 565 Prairie Center Drive.
The meeting will begin with an introduction to the Eden Prairie Race Equity Initiative and an update on the status of its implementation, according to Megan Yerks, the city’s community services coordinator. From there, the floor will be open for discussion between community members, the city council, and staff.
One of the recommendations in the Race Equity Report completed last year was to emphasize ongoing communication with the diverse communities and organizations that call Eden Prairie home. So, the city council especially wants to hear from communities that are large in number, including people originally from Somalia, East Asia, China, and other places on the globe, said Mayor Ron Case.
“We’re really just wanting to get their feelings on the pulse of Eden Prairie,” he said, as well as their experiences living in Eden Prairie.
Wednesday’s meeting is part of a larger series of sessions that has had the city council meeting with business people and senior citizens at locations other than city hall, including Star Bank with business people and Summit Place and Flagstone with older residents.
“This is one more effort to stay as connected as we can,” said Case.
